Playability: 5
This adventure provides maximum fun for the advanced player - provided you like three things: intense micromanagement of trade and industry, the game's military aspect, and 'Big Surprises'. I can't say more about the 'Big Surprise' without giving away a spoiler in the last episode, but (as the prior comment stated) it might require the player to abandon their city and restart. Suffice it to say that a player feels a great sense of achievement after struggling through this one. That feeling is fun (at least to me).
Balance: 5
I can't say I agree with Nightwolf's 'medium difficulty' rating. The 'Big Surprise' bumps this one up to at least Titan difficulty (at least in my opinion). This adventure is quite tough, yet not impossible. I played at Olympian difficulty but (due to its scripting) I believe the adventure is challenging even at the lower difficulty settings. Advanced players will be challenged for several reasons, such as: all food must be imported on the parent map (none can be grown); no taxation is allowed in the first episode; alot of micromanagement is required; and there are plenty of invasions of monsters, Gods, and Centaurs to deal with.
Creativity: 4
The maps were designed realistically. The story was sparse, but serviceble. The real creativity of this one comes with the scripting, which is definitely above-average.
I don't normally enjoy playing maps where I am forced to import all my food, but I stuck with it in hopes Nightwolf's scripting would prove adequate to provide sufficient trade opportunities for obtaining food. His scripting came through, so don't let that stop you from playing this one.
Map Design: 4
I enjoy realistically-designed maps and the two in this adventure certainly were. However, they both had a few graphic glitches that caused 'black spots' to appear on the map during gameplay, which kept me from awarding top marks in this category. These kind of terrain graphic glitches are something that should be caught during playtesting.
Story/Instructions: 3
This is a typical Nightwolf storyline...meaning it's rather sparse. However, it gets the job done. Beware, though, no hint is given about the 'Big Surprise' in the last episode.
Additional Comments:
This is definitely not one for the faint-hearted. Yet I think advanced players will enjoy it, simply for the satisfaction of beating something so deadly. Go ahead and curse the designer when you get to the last episdoe, I did! But where would the fun be without these kind of challenges? So yes, I'm recommending this one! :)

Nice work here.
I thought it was a little too short, I was enjoying playing this adventure when it ended.
*spoiler* Here is a tip for that surprise in the end: Stockpile wine ;) |

I enjoyed the scenario on Olympian.
Balance: 5
I really liked how made all the food be imported. This makes the city scale up with the story and means you have to manage what to produce, and what not (even if you could sell it for a good drachma) simply because there will not be enough workers to do everything.
Creativity: 4
I always say it's really hard to be creative in this game (for me at least, having played so many scenarios).
Map Design: 5
Very nice and detailed, only a bit more space than what is actually required.
Story/Instructions: 4
Well you get the info you need, but storytelling is obviously not Nightwolf's priority.
Additional Comments:
Some of the other comments mentioned the "surprise" in the last episode. I think they gave it too much importance (I expected something like an earthquake destroying half of my city). This is supposed to be a city dedicated to Apollo, and you can only build his sanctury in the last episode. Guess why :P
If you really want to be on the safe side, stockpile stuff (as someone already mentioned). |
