This is the August CityBuildingContests.net competition. Its quite a tough little adventure, especially the colony...

Play on Olympian for a real challenge...!

All the best!

Tenda Wow. I really love this adventure - it seems nice and easy but then one surprise after another! All my poor sheep.... :(

You are right about the colony... well done !!!!!!

Playability: 2
I didn't quite enjoy this adventure, so the fun factor was low. The main reason why I didn't like the adventure is that it was not balanced well in terms of population requirements: in the first episodes, you have to fit in quite some people on a small map, while it's very hard to find jobs for all those people. There are no industries for use to soak up employment because of godly intervention or disrupted trade. Building extra industries for the sake of employing people is not my style, and using rabble for a long period to pelt the Minotaur with rocks doesn't attract immigrants either.

Balance: 2
As explained above, the adventure was not well balanced: it was too hard to get the required population, both in the parent city episodes and the colony episodes. If you like cramming people in a limited space with high unemployment, this adventure will be perfect for you, but the casual gamer will most likely not enjoy it.

Map Design: 3
The maps were well-designed, with very interesting hills and lakes. However, for the intended (population) goals, the maps were on the small side. The colony episode in particular sported a tiny, hilly map, on which one had to fit a sanctuary to Hermes, enough warehouses to store 128 amphorae of wine, and fit in 1000 people as well: nigh impossible.

Creativity: 3
While the maps themselves were interesting enough, the world level was a little confusing, with multiple allied cities appearing in the final episode that hadn't been known before. The events in the scenario were few, but those that were there served only to annoy the player and prevent him from using certain resources.

Story/Instructions: 4
The story was very enjoyable, with the story following the "Crete" side of the conflict between Athens and Crete, in the Minotaur myth. The instructions, however, didn't always explain why certain goals were set, especially in the last episode of the adventure. Also, the victory text for the last episode assumed the Minotaur had been killed, while I won the episode without laying a hand on the bovine beast.

Additional comments:
This map was created as a contest, where the player had to play through the adventure as fast as possible on Titan difficulty. This shows in the episode goals and does not make it a very enjoyable adventure for normal play.
