Athena and Poseidon are at it again - arguing over who will get that glorious, meadow-rich city in Attica. He said. She said. Zeus says enough already, it's time to decide once and for all! Athena's Magical Olives will take you through some challenging times, but in the end your city will stand as a shining gem in Greece's crown.
This is a long adventure and consists of six parent episodes and three colonies. |

I was enjoying this adventure, Until the I went to the Colonies...
Why pray tell set thing's aside for them, when they Never Ever
receive these Gift's?? I think that you need to do two thing's,
1.) Remember what each Parent has set aside and make sure that the
Colonies DO get them and 2.) If a colony is told to set aside
something for the Parent, then Make sure the Parent Get's it, as
well as that the Colony Sell's it to the Parent. Your map's are
Very nice and other than these two problem's; you do have a good
eye for detail. Please fix this in the next Adventure. Thanks and
keep up the hard work.
Sincerely,
Cat

Hi Cat - thanks for playing and for the comments. There has actually been some discussion on this subject in the Impressions forums if you want more information than my response (or a "second opinion" :).
I didn't gift the exact set aside goods to the colonies because: since I can't control which colony the player will choose to play first, the only way for the colony to receive the set aside goods from the previous parent episode would be to make the set aside goals exactly the same leading into each colony - which wouldn't really lead to very interesting gaming since you would be setting aside the same goods all the time.
This goes the other way too (from the colony back to the parent) - since I have no way to know which colony the player just played, I would have to make all of the set aside goals in each colony exactly the same. Since each colony is there to provide the parent city with something it doesn't have, it doesn't make sense (to me) to make all of the colonies produce the same goods just so I can match the set asides and the gifts.
With all of this in mind, I tried to give enough gifts to the colony to provide the needed resources in that city, instead of making all of the set aside goals the same for each episode.
Someone once wrote in to the Imps forum and said that a good way to think about the 'set aside' gifts is that they are the "supplies" that are used on the way to the colony and back to the parent city.
Hope this helps.

I just finished this grand adventure with a population of 8222 and a drachma count of 215,000+ playing on the mortal difficulty level. I have a final savegame if anyone cares to see it complete.
I had to stop a few times over a three day period to re-charge my batteries, but believe me it is quite fun and very rewarding!
Please make some more! |

It was a great start - but now I am at Calydon for my first colony. It seemed the right choice - "raw materials every parent city wants", but Theseus would like to have some wine...
I can import grapes, but cannot build wineries. And no sanctuary to Dionysus either. And nobody (allies and rivals) is producing wine. Do I have to wait for some miracle (perhaps Knossos will start trading and will send me some wine) or did I something wrong? If I just have to wait - no problem, I am very patient and THE BOAR is not bothering me too much at the moment.
Thanks,

Gudgeon,
I think that the problem can b solved. After each colony episode, set multiple gift events, one for each colony. If the player hasn't built a colony already, the event (at least I think so) won't appear. But if you've already built that colony, it's just the 'generousity of a subject' that gives you the gift.
Or you can say in the text that a raging band of centaurs has stolen the goods you set aside. Too bad. :) |
