This is my first attempt at creating an adventure. I have based this adventure on the history and mythology surrounding the ancient city of Ephesus. As I did research into the founding of the city and the eventual construction of the temple, I tried to include events that unfolded according to the history book. For example, the city of Sardis actually patronized Ephesus for a while before being conquered by other Persians. I have put many hours into tweaking and testing this adventure and I have tried to write an engaging story to go with it. I hope it plays as well for you as has for me.
First couple of episodes had interesting if easy challenges(budgeting, labor management).
The final episode requires a number of conquests to complete.
A simple mix that an intermediate player may find interesting. Advanced players might consider some personal rules.
The final episode can be won unexpectidely if you spend enough time in the first episode. There are few scipts in each episode so extending play isn't much use. I went mostly for speed play thus avoiding some things and ignored other events.
Knowing the game mechanics can defuse some of the challenges that the designer might have been thinking about.
Map Design: 4
I liked the Parent City Map. It used a medium sized map which was refreshing. I only saw half of the scripted earthquakes, since I was going for speed, so missed out on their added character.
The Colony Map was Nice but had dozens of minor elevation change errors(Black Holes).
Storyline was entertaining, informative with a humorous twist.
Lacked instructions, but the adventure was mostly straight forward, so no biggy.
