This is an epic adventure consisting of 10 episodes (7 parent + 3 colony). You start on Malta, a barren island in the middle of Mediterranean, with no resources except for marble and fish, and need to rule all the Mediterranean. As an epic, it contains a bit of everything - peace, war, heroes, monsters, friendly and hostile gods.
Adventure was tested quite thoroughly, but bugs can still happen, please don't hesitate to report. A few notes:
- READ ALL TEXTS CAREFULLY, THEY ARE A KEY TO SUCCEEDING
- maps are based on real Mediterranean islands , and resources are more or less consistent with reality
- one of design goals was to provide player with all necessary information before each episode. If something essential is missing in episode description, it's a bug, please report
- every episode (except for last one) is limited in time by invading huge force. If you've managed to bypass it, it's a bug, please report
- there are no scheduled rival invasions, except for those set for time limit. Instead, rivals ask for goods (sometimes making ridiculous requests), and if you're not satisfying them, they can become hostile and invade. So it's important to decide when it's better to pay and when it's better to risk invasion.

Great adventure,
I 've not finished it yet but you can easily bypass the first attack after 8 years, then scheme, build the city, and accumulate gold ... just don't build on the main island until the attack. |

Playability: 2
It's challenged with the choosing colony to win. However this may mess up a lot of other people game cause of choosing wrong colony. You spent 2 hr in the game result you lost cause you chose wrong colony( i personally think it's a big mistake when playing this game)
Balance: 3
Map has quite nice lay out and resources can be find almost in other city through trading.
Creativity: 4
Nice story and instruction; the colonies have really good instruction with details of what they have.
Map Design: 4
Those island in the 1st map is fantastic. the emptiness of the island mixed with few tree is a good idea.
Story/Instructions: 3
A very good story line. player will be very interesting in this kind of story.

PantheonBoxers, you have to raid Siracusa for wine. This, along with the goals for the missions encourages very fast play and a very challenging adventure. |

I was just in the Zeus Heaven looking through the high-rated adventures and found this gem. This adventure is basically about a resource deprived island which the player must colonise and eventually to provide all of the niceties of all the major Mediterranean cities. This re was extremely enjoyable and once I had started I was determined to finish, and after replaying this adventure a few times I was finally able to finish it. What a sense of accomplishment! The let down for this however, is that the player is unable to choose their colonisation path. If you choose Ithaca, (which is basically forced upon you) you'll have to wait for your next choice before you can have a lucrative export. However, Corfu is next in line. So, you've finally got your commodities. You have two more choices, between Salamis and Lemnos. Now, if the player had been given more choice you could have chosen both of these to use as useful sources of bronze, though you'll only have a chance to play one. I chose Salamis, and i'll come to that later.
Balance: 5
Challenging. Definitely challenging. I played this on Titan and it took me a few times before I could achieve the goals without Carthage busting my arse. Though it was a bit too close! They would arrive and then just as they unloaded their infantry I would reach the treasury goal and win! However, this promotes fast play and I have to say that even despite this close shave the goals are very achievable. You just have to beg off of your allies which have strong economies so that if you make a drachma request you'll get a few thousand. Why did I give this a 4? Not the challenge. Infact, the lack thereof! When I got to Salamis, the 72 bronze in a year requirement looked daunting but it was quite easily achieved even if I had to make quite a large city to reach my goals. The problem, is that exporting sculpture is extremely lucrative and because of the amount of money I made from it I was able to surrender and then bribe the second attack from Carthage and then repeat the same with Sparta. This meant that I was then free to dawdle as long as I wanted though because I was making so much money I didn't need to.
Also, city planning is crucial. If you build things haphazardly, you will have a logistical nightmare on your hands like I did at first. I thought about dropping a mark for the bribing of the time limit invasions but I decided against it.
Creativity: 4
The idea of a barren city and numerous colonies the player was required to build, along with the imbalance of power causing aliances to go against you was quite interesting. Also, the environments of the colonies were quite diverse which I enjoyed. From Corfu to Salamis you could tell they were too different places without having to look at the world map. Where this adventure looses a mark however, is that even rhough the story was clear it was fairly dull.
Map Design: 5
As pointed out in creativity, the maps were excellent. The barren land that Malta was even looked quite nice. Quite a challenge when the landscape isn't very diverse. There was never a "i'll make a basic map then put some bronze here randomly, and some marble here in an open plain". No. The bronze was on a hill, mixed in with rock and the marble was too. What can I say. The maps were very aesthetically pleasing!
Story/Instructions: 4
As stated, the story was clear and concise but unimaginative. However, there were no glaring spelling errors and there was enough of a story for me to go through it at the start of every mission. Too bad the quest texts can't be edited so I can steal the Palladium from Carthage rather than Troy which I had already conquered!
Additional Comments:
Overall, a very good adventure! There are a few things that could be tweaked here and there but it's very refreshing from the easy stock adventures! |

Unexpectedly encounter space problems. The space is too small regarding to episode requirements. 100 hoplites requires 2 elite housing block + 4 big sanctuary + 4 housing block to support enough workers for 6 triremes. I had to delete 1 sanctuary in order to meet other requirements which is a flaw. Whether deletes elite housing, sanctuary or disable triremes. Squeeze in everything & build things in a mess is not my favourite (though I can do if I want). Can't bring myself to even rate this adventure bcoz it's gonna be low. Just a little bit more space I'm gonna rate this close to 5 for sure. [Edited on 10/11/21 @ 02:37 PM]
