i replayed the whole adventure. at titan difficulty
built 2 sanctuaries ahead and kept all materials for zeus sanctuary on stand by before going to the last episode.
man the bribes was humongous and tributes they paid was infuriating... feel like attacking the author with the legions i made [some 132 spearmen + 16 ares troops + ares + ares dragon + 2 heroes + 9 friates]
its a good adventure tho |

Hello you guys!
It's been a very long time since this adventure was uploaded but I have just played it recently.
Firstly I would like to thank the author of the adventure for creating such an interesting one.
Secondly I want to ask why I cannot conquer the city Astacus to finish the goal "14 trading partners" of the last episode. I have tried to conquer the city so many times by dispatching 20 companies of spearmen (160 solders in total), the 2 heroes Achilles and Odyssey, the 2 mythological companies of the god Ares and the army from one of my allies but I have always failed to conquer the city. I think there has to be a a military decline at Astacus so that the city can be conquered but I have been waiting for so long and no declines have occurred at the city at all. I wonder whether I missed the event of Astacus's military decline in one of the previous episodes!? By the way, the attitude of the city towards my city is "Docile" and the last message from Astacus said that the leader of the city respected me.
Please help me. Thanks a lot in advance [Edited on 02/17/20 @ 06:19 PM]

Hi KateConan!
I vaguely remember the few major problems I faced in this adventure, as I went through some of the older comments here, and also my save file from January 2010 (well this was really from a long time ago haha).
The marble issue was really a pain. I remembered that I had replay the last (two) episodes from a previous save, simply because the marble source went off and my Tiryns doesn't have enough stockpiled for Zeus in my first run.
Back to your question, do you mean the city Pylus or Astacus? Because the other major problem I faced in the last episode, it was Pylus that was simply unconquerable - until Odysseus had completed his quest "Finding the Missing Piece". Completing the quest triggered a military decline on Pylus, which I didn't know at that time. Ares and my Tiryns armies were then finally able to convince Pylus to be the 14th and final trading partner.
As for Astacus, I managed to conquer them on episode 4, right before going into the last colony Ibrone. Looking back at the event messages, Astacus had a military decline event waaayback during episode 2. Astacus was never a military stronghold like Tiryns or Pylus, at least in my save at that time. And there was no military decline on Astacus ever since a vassal and right until the end.
Anyway in short, perhaps it doesn't matter which is the city; you may want to try to send both Achilles and Odysseus to complete all their quests first, and hopefully there's the military decline (usually 3 to 6 months after the quest complete) for your final rival city to fall.
Hope this helps. Good luck![Edited on 02/19/20 @ 12:18 PM]

Dear dulano!
You are so so so kind indeed. I was afraid no one would have answered my question 'cause the game is too old. I had played the game a very long time ago, like in 2006, 2010 and 2015. Recently my workload has been a little lighter and I've had more free time so I decided to play the game again and tried to finish this adventure Armory in a very hard way just like you did. The marble problem was freaking me out too.
Thanks to your answer, I think I know what is my problem in conquering Astacus. I did miss the event Astacus got a military decline in Episode 2. Maybe because I finished that episode a little too quick and before the time at which the event was supposed to happen.
I will play the adventure again from the first episode to check whether what I think is right or wrong.
Once again I would like to thank you so so so much, dulano. You are a great help to me.
Best wishes for you!!! |

You are welcome KateConan :)
Armory is one of my earliest Nightwolf downloads. His other adventures are pretty solid too.
For an old game Zeus is still undeniably fun and addictive, especially for leisures or long nights. Resources and mods in Zeus Heaven are nothing short of awesome. Always nice to see there are still creators and players hanging around here as well.
Best wishes and see you around! |

Additional Comments:
Nice maps. Got easier after getting hephaestus to boost armor making.
Spoiled myself with the comments so I hoarded marble and sculptures before final episode. Built zeus sanctuary just in time to fend of hades/aphrodite/apollo.
I think nightwolf set the cities to stop selling marble/sculpture when you conquer the cities. So hold of on conquering them until you finish zeus' sanctuary. This is a failing point as you enter the final episode with a full army and no marble/sculpture. So your first instinct would be to go conquer while building the sanctuary. But then the cities stop selling marble and sculpture.
TIL that when hades invades and kills your citizens (bring them to the underworld) he also stops the +10 global science from museums until a new curator arrives. Zeus doesn't get rid of hades in time.

Hi friends!
I know this adventure is very very old, but I am still battling against it, cause marble really makes me crazy. I have taken good notice of your comments and I will try again.
The problem is marble and statues are not produced anywhere, thus preventing me from asking or buying or raiding.
Furthermore Ade makes disappear all my citizen and they are not coming back even after years and years.
Three attacks from enemies each month plus Ade, Afrodite, Ettore and Apollo always messing around.
But marble is the worst. Any other suggestion?
Thanks a lot and a great bravo to NW, always excellent adventures!
Bye
Vale
