The adventure was certainly playable but not very interesting. Only at the very beginning did it require any fund managing, but I became a millionaire in no time. Also: every resource you need was immediatly available, it was kinda like playing a sandbox. Building sanctuaries for even more resources felt kinda useless. On the positive side: the adventure was very straightforward, so the absence of a story isn't a hindrance.
The adventure is not very well balanced: Summoning Achilles in the first episode requires you to built most of your city in one go. Afterwards only horse ranches and sanctuaries are added. Your potential trade income is excessive right from the start so all invasions can be bribed. The single colony offers nothing useful. I was able to complete the last episode in minutes, before anyone turned rival. That was kinda cool.
I liked the fact that a fifth food type is introduced. In think the adventure also offered a nice variety of deities, providing some choice. I didn't like the fact that the adventures' few challenges never vary: a bunch of random gods keep attacking and monsters appear again and again, but only the first time was somewhat challenging.
Map Design: 3
The maps are quite nice and gave an impression of rough and realistic terrain. Some effort was put into scrubbing. I notice many bad tiles on the slopes as well as many instances where a 4x4 square tool was used. The colony map features water on heightend land. I think that's a very brave choice as it could look awesome, but it also looked rather unrealistic.
None. In the second episode only 3 sanctuaries may be built while 4 are offered. this was the only time where I missed the story. I might therefore have given some points were it not for the fact that the average score would be way way too high when there is no story at all.
This adventure had a great review so I gave it a try. While I liked some elements, I was mostly dissapointed. For that reason I've decided to post a review too so others don't get the same. I've tried my best to include all elements that I did like. I've played on Olympian.
