UPDATE! The previous version contained one instance where I used a hex-editor to alter the adventure so as to conceal an important element. This seems however to have caused a rare error for Geronimo so I've decided to take it out. Other changes include a somewhat unpleasant surprise as well as finishing touches to several maps, the story, the guide and the event lists. Additional but modest changes followed in a second update. /UPDATE!
The Athenians have doomed themselves.. Torrents of lava descend upon the city like avalanches while tsunamis obliterate the fleet. Some citizens seek refuge on the heights of the Acropolis, where, for a brief moment, they see Hades smirking at them..
You've guessed it: rebuilding the city will be your job. It's going to be difficult, it will take more than one lifetime, and once you've started founding colonies, different storylines will start to unfold. Which means that if you should be mad enough to try again with different colonies, it will hardly be any less challenging.
That was the point though, of many many hours of constructing and testing this adventure: building a challenging adventure with high replay value. It's been fun, but I've reached a point where I can't spot any obvious room for improvement. Though by posting it here, that will probably change quickly. Well, bring it on!
I would like to thank Senseisan, Mazeppa, JRFisher and Zapo who tested this adventure and provided tons of suggestions for improvement. Thanks as well to the HeavenGames forum and its contributors. The information stored there contributed a lot to the adventure. And finally thanks to Pecunia for providing the highly useful program ZeusMapper.
This adventure is meant for Zeus: Master of Olympus, but requires the expansion Poseidon: Master of Atlantis to be installed as well. It also requires Poseidon's patch, which can be found on this forum.
Unzip the file Everybody loves oranges.zip in your installation folder/adventures. You can find the adventure under custom adventures for Poseidon (though it is an adventure for Zeus).
This adventure can and should be completed without using cheats or the 'cliff climbers' technique. Using such shortcuts will spoil most of this adventure's challenges and may cause a crash to desktop.
The folder in the .zip file includes an adventure guide, which serves as a failsafe for this adventure: it provides tips on how to proceed in case you get stuck somewhere. As it can be rather spoilery too I recommend: do not read more than you have to. Please do check it before posting questions here though, so as to limit spoilers in the comments as much as possible! |

Hi GeneralTruin,
That is too bad. I'd like to take a look at it. Could you send me a savegame?

Hi tvojdedo1,
That's too bad. I'd love to see a savegame (as this problem is unfamiliar to me). For now I can only suggest you restart episode 9. If this doesn't work, there is nothing for it but to go back further and to pick A********* as the second colony.
Cheers, Genis
Update:
During recent tests I've noticed that scripted events can (eventually) be stalled when many actions are performed on the main map (requests, raids etc.) I would therefore advise to replay the episode with a minimum of such actions.

Is it normal that in A... colony I got 4(!) Cerberi on the island, and so there is no way to lure them all out at once? I am so stuck! |

Absolutely terrible balance on your adventure. I hate it when there's a time constraint and if you haven't got the ressources by then you're screwed forever. Impossible to get 1600 people in townhouse once your colony loses the ability to sell you wheat. A few boars aren't enough to sustain enough people. Struggled for years with waves of mass migrations. Cheated to see what happens next and half of my city got flooded under water. No thanks, not enjoyable at all![Edited on 09/04/19 @ 01:10 PM]

Hi Michelle,
Yes, 4 Cerberi appear, which means that summoning the hero is required before the rest of the map can be accessed.
Remember: if you get stuck: consult the adventure guide:)

borras123, I recommend that you should familiarize yourself with the gameplay before tackling this adventure.. there's a reason why it's rated Olympian, and with that said.. your skill is not enough yet for you to play this out.
And yes, meat as a food source is very reliable in Zeus.. and the creator took great care to ensure that the flood you mention would not destroy the infrastructure you've built since chapter one, whilst at the same time, help your city even more... and the storyline made good sense out of the events that were compiled in every episode.
I enjoyed this adventure, and I'm sure many others have as well. |

Playability: 5
Very interesting adventure. especially the the first episodes and the colonies (I had Mytilenne and Amphipolis - Amphipolis my favorite part !!!)
A lot of work is required to pass some episodes, sometimes a bit of patience too (as events have to occur or just to wait for veeeery long distribution networks to start working properly :) )
Balance: 5
Well... it is almost on the edge of being impossible sometimes, but with much care and not wasting resources it is doable. Author must have spent zillions of hours to test if it works :)))
I think it is good idea to keep save game just before you finish each episode... I started Amphipolis with some 20k drachma :D what a pain...as the initial conditions are terrible at best these 20k proved quite insufficient. Maybe it is doable (I almost finished the sanctuary but funds were almost depleted and there are LIMITS on this map in the first years before some profit can be made)...so decided to return to previous episode (6) and just wait a bit to enter the colony with more funds :) Let's say even with 250k starting money it was not a walk in the park , it was a bit of an overkill though as at some point the city becomes profitable, though not as profitable as the main city:) btw this particular map - Amphipolis i liked so much I even would say it is the best thing i played in Zeus/Poseidon so far...even better than the home city :)
Last episode was crazy hahaha :) so much going on ..I could barely follow who becomes vassal, who turns to rival, who conquers who...also new opportunities appear ;p to conquer or get kicked in the backside :D
Creativity: 5
Crazy map of home town, crazy colonies. I liked a lot that on several occassions you HAVE to rely on like 1-2 units of certains resource, unlikey most other maps where you can simply overproduce tons of everything :) makes you try to be as efficient as possible
Map Design: 4
The maps are ingenious, events will alter the landscapes both to your advantage and sometimes will cause tremendous damage (lava in middle of housing area was fun haha :P )
What is really cool is that not only the maps (I only saw main city and 2 colony but will replay it definitely to check the others) is that not only the author put great care to make some resources obtainable but extremely hard to obtain in efficient way , yet still possible, but also put nice areas just for aestethics , or sometimes to taunt the player :) (like having so much copper in one colony, but none can be mined except for one :D )
Well i give 4 instead of 5 because due to the originality of the ideas it comes at the price of wasting A LOT of real time to achieve some goals, even when a lot of workforce AND micromanagement is invested in delivering the goods
I'd say the map layouts are even 6, but I simply disliked just sitting around and doing nothing while waiting (coz for example city is at food limit at some point, so can't even build much else than what i currently had)
Anyway thta is minor issue and obviously needed in order to achieve the certain effect that was looked for ;)
Story/Instructions: 5
Good and funny story, I liked it ...not too serious :P I figured the tricks myself but after reading here the comments i found out i had pdf file in the map folder that has ALL the required information + spoilers so what else can one ask for?
Additional Comments:
Well this has to be the best adevnture I've played :) Pushing the game to the limits and also the player to the extremes of his knowledge, patience and resourcefulness :) It's is a pity I only see just this one from the author ....
reading the comments i must say i encountered 0!!! probles or bugs, except for the ones i caused myself :)
Defo will replay but first i play some easy maps hahhahaha
Cheers and thanks for the good hours[Edited on 02/10/21 @ 03:45 AM]

btw one small detail i liked a lot was how good example of the power of some sanctuaries the home city map is.... like Athena - filling all the demand for the city + exporting + still having such a great surplus that i send 16 unit gifts on regular basis - with a bare 16 olive trees!!! Dionis = ditto, though obviously wine was not used as much :) great great stuff |
