It is me once again with a new campaign, and once again with one that has its story based in history of Greece.
At first I was attempting to make a campaign about exploits of Alexander but a moment later I decided that Alexander had his glory reflected in sooo many games and movies and whatnot - so why not make a Zeus campaign about the conquests of his father, Phillip II?
And here we are. Five episodes of conquering and city-building.
PS: A virtual cookie for those that manage to complete this campaign on or before 336 BC; I'm not an expert Zeus player and yet I missed the 'deadline' by only four years in my final test run, so I'm sure a determined player can accomplish that ;)
Have fun and good luck, folks! |

Overall fun. Could be more difficult. Could be longer. The map was great, very beautiful. Maybe throw more mountains especially in the north. I think Zeus should be a friendly god, because one of Philip's wives (and Alexander's mother)Olympias traced her own lineage to Zeus himself. It feels like there should be something about the Third Sacred War in there and the battle of Charonea. I thought you did a fair job with the shifting alliances, but if you strove a bit more stridently to accurately represent them it would make the adventure much harder. There are a few dialectical contradictions when spelling Greek words that could be smoothed out. Also, your grammar and spelling could use a little help. If you were shooting for historical accuracy I have a few comments: Epaminondas died in 362 BC at the battle of Mantinea (Philip II ascended the Macedonian throne in 359 BC), so he could not be the ruler of Thebes. Its hard to say who would best be considered the leader of Thebes after his death because Thebes was a constantly shifting democracy that entered into a decline without Epaminodas. I think you should have included the battle of Pydna because it was really the "oh shit" moment for the Greeks, and bolstered the Macedonian position. Maybe include his marriage to Olympias. The position of Amphipolis is wrong. Also Potidea should be included. Stageira would be important to include as a colony, as Philip destroyed it, then rebuilt it as a favor to Aristotle, who mentored the young Alexander. It would be fun too to include shrines (or even a sanctuary) to Demeter (Philip ordered the construction of 2 such shrines). Overall a very fun, if short (beat it on Titan in less than an hour) adventure. I'd say 8.5 stars of ten.
I too am making an adventure about Philip II, which I will post in a few weeks! Let me know what you think!!
Also, thank you for posting this![Edited on 06/29/16 @ 04:15 PM]

Playability: 5
I played at the Hero level.
Whoa, what a fast start. Fasten your seat belt.
I wonder if Haspen really wrote this one, HA HA? Usually you get a warm-up episode or two before the main events. It's not like him to start with a bang.
I had to restart a couple of times to avoid an early defeat.
Balance: 5
It's manage, build, and conquer, conquer, conquer. No rest for the weary Hoplites.
No balanced diet in this city. It's not a place for vegetarians.
Creativity: 5
It's one of the longer playing adventures in just the parent city. Haspen made the most out of it by loading up the map with so many rivals and allies that it is difficult to keep track of who's a friend and who's a foe.
Likewise, a large and growing number of trading partners that come and go.
Also, a lot of needy friends with no help from Hermes.
Map Design: 4
It's very big with huge meadows, a quarry in the west, and the sea very distant in the East.
You will need a lot of room.
Story/Instructions: 5
Very good story line that ties to the goals and explains the order in which you should accomplish them.
