This zip archive contains all saves from the campaign "Proteus and Bellerophon". It contains 7 missions, 6 of which are in the parent city of Lycia, 1 is a colony mission. Each save is taken just before the completion of the mission and is numbered in the order of the missions. If you want to have a look around, you should pause the game when it's loaded to prevent victory from being achieved.
This entire campaign is focused on developing the city of Lycia. There is only one colony to build this time, which is used simply to provide marble to the parent city for sanctuaries.
Lycia is a huge map and there's tons of space for the city. Coastal space is limited however and various events make the area dangerous (tidal waves, monster invasions), but you have all the trade partners needed to make money. Note that trade is fairly limited and you'll have to rely on taxation, but with the very simplistic goals of the missions, you might find this a good adventure to build a large city: I did and enjoyed it better.
Early note: in the first mission, you will see 3 cities in the southern islands called Dicte, Ithanus and Anaphe. You cannot trade with these cities at any point, and over the course of the first three mission, each city will be destroyed by events. The explanation by the staggered route of the destroyed cities is that Chimera is coming from Dicte (or thereabouts) and travelling across the sea to reach you. The events are explained below.
NOTE: This mission switches back to a focus on Greece. Most Poseidon additions are now removed (Science and Hippodrome), only the Corral remains.
- (Insert the usual preamble here). Lycia can support a large city, but exports are thin on the ground. As soon as Antissa says they're going to buy olives, export as many as you can. The exports from olives will help to offset the cost of importing bronze for armor, which you need to support 16 hoplites, but it's also your best export here. Build your city around the large meadowland near the city entrance point in the east, with trade conducted in the central inlet, as it provides the most space for trading piers. Keep an eye on your funds and don't go broke here. As I mentioned earlier, there are 3 cities at the start of this adventure in the south: near the start of this mission, Dicte will ask for help with the Chimera. This is impossible to meet, because to defeat monsters attacking other cities, you need a hero and Bellerophon cannot be summoned. Dicte cannot be saved and will be destroyed.
- In Mission 2, all you have to do is conquer 3 Greek cities. They're all very weak militarily, but if you want to be more likely to succeed, build up the military some more. You won't really be invaded here, so you can use this mission as a good opportunity to really expand the city, you have the resources to do this. At the start, Ithanus will be menaced by Chimera: just like with Dicte, you can't save them, so allow them to be destroyed (they did nothing for you anyway!)
- The third mission is your only colony to produce Marble. This is a big map, but Medusa doesn't like your invasion. Building the Sanctuary to Hera should be done after you've spent time summoning Perseus. You may find it difficult to avoid Medusa, but coming into the mission with a nice supply of funds will reduce your need to export for a while. Although you can build Bellerophon's hall, don't bother: you can't raise horses without wheat! Therefore, Anaphe will fall to the Chimera as well.
- Back to Lycia for Mission 4, a pretty basic mission. Just summon Bellerophon and send him on the quest. If you want, you can conquer or raid Solymi for bronze, but they'll rebel and turn rivals at the end of the episode anyway. Also, a tidal wave hits in one of the inlets so just replace everything that's lost, you should already have plenty of funds.
- Mission 5 is also very straight forward. While you wait for Chimera to show up (it was foreshadowed lol), conquer Themiscyra and Solymi for bronze. Chimera is easy to defeat, but he'll spawn in the inlet near the best housing area on the East of the map, so if you haven't summoned Bellerophon by this point, use your own military and rabble to defeat Chimera (trust me, this route works).
- Another basic and boring mission. Summon Bellerophon again to kill Echidna, then likely meet the population/treasury goods that you meet 3 missions ago.
- Mission 7 is boring. Just build Apollo's Sanctuary, then send off Bellerophon for the quest to win.
I played this adventure mostly using future knowledge obtained from the Impressions Games' walkthrough provided on this website, but where possible, I tried to play mission without knowing the events of a mission. This campaign is insanely easy and there's almost no challenge here. If Mission 2 is played correctly and expanded into a vast city, the adventure will pass very easily, as many of the goals are just "summon Bellerophon for a quest/kill a monster" after the colony. I didn't enjoy this adventure one bit, too boring and simplistic.
Enjoy and if you have questions about my build style, post below! :)
