The Stavros Chronicles

Author File Description
File Details
Difficulty: Olympian
Number of episodes: 7+3
Ok, this is my next adventure. A very long one, 7 parent episodes and multiple colony episodes. I am very pleased with the map designs. All map designs are highly unique and come with their own challenges (design time alone is probably around 150 hours or so). They are not nearly as cramped as my previous adventures, though you still rarely get to build your 08/15 housing blocks, so there's some challenge. I also considered replay value, something that was probably laking from my previous adventures.

As for the story, I took on a mixture of Zeus meets high fantasy, however after about 50% I lost motivation completely. So if I had to finish the story the adventure would never get released and that would be a total downer because the maps and gameplay are great (which to me is why I play the game). There's a detailed story for episodes 1-3 and 6, and short descriptions for the other episodes and for colony episodes (I've had a concept for the whole story, but couldn't manage to flesh out the remaining episodes). If anybody is interested in finishing the story for the remaining episodes, I'll gladly update the adventure.

So, if you look for something interesting and different, you should have lot's of fun with this adventure. I did playtest the adventure and fixed all bugs I could find, but should anything have gone unnoticed, just tell me if anything needs to be corrected.

Update 13.07.21: Changed the parent city map slightly to prevent unnecessary surprises in the penultimate episode. I'm open for further suggestions to improve gameplay.

Update 12.10.21: Ok, I finally did it. The story of the main campaign is finished, as well as some colonies now! The main story got pretty long but I think it is quite satisfying. I slightly changed some game events to fit with the updated story. I hope you enjoy my work!

Update 02.01.22: All colonies now have an adventure text. Thus the adventure is now really finished.

That is a great parent map!

So... The Stavros Chronicles
I have played the adventure and have to first up say that it was the most fun I have had in a long time. Every single City has some unique or cool enviroment or challenge.

Playability: 3
The mission goals are achieveable without many problems. This adventure focuses more on threat by enemy military instead of monsters and gods, which I find is perfect. Nothing more pesky than having some Olympian run haywire in your city every 3 months.
Point deduction for the sheer amount of rage potential one of the last parent episodes has to offer.
Also the game is a bit broken by the fact you can export up to 48 sculptures per year which gives you huge profits. Also the Orichalc Tribute you receive from a Rival City you need to Rule at one point is ridiculous at 32 anually, which btw. can be sold again aswell.

Balance: 4
The adventure is managable at highest Difficulty and challenges you to really plan out your city and use the smallest bits of land effectively. Also in the early episodes money is difficult to come by because selling food can easily wreck your economy at that point.

Creativity: 5
Nothing much to say. Story, cities and the overall lore are extremely interesting. More see Story/Instructions.

Liosha(Parent) is a very cool river based city. I really loved the venetian feeling it gave of with all the bridges crossing to access the different parts of the map. Nkemos was a nightmare in City planning but a dream in playing. Amantha was the most creative map I've ever seen. I can't say I disliked any particular map after playing.

Story/Instructions: 3
Okay first of: It started very well! The story was interesting and awesome. I liked the little jokes in the episode texts and the Meta Jokes. What I didn't like was the last half of the adventure. It is so unfortunate that you didn't write the story all the way through. It could have been a easy 5 without a doubt if it wasn't for the fact that the last episodes mostly had brief Summaries instead of the long and interesting stories the first episodes had. Please for the love of god finish this adventure! I wanna play it with all the Lore and all the cool stories!

Additional Comments:
Please finish the story! You did such a phenomenal job up to the first brief Summary. Also this is the first adventure I really felt the need to write a Review for. By far one of the best adventures I've played in a long time.

PS: You should definitely think about writing "The Stavros Chronicles" into a full fledged story. It has the potential to be out there among the best.

Thanks for the review. I understand your points. My focus was on replayability this time so I didn't want to create a scenario where you have to min-max everything in order to beat the adventure. Of course that often leads to money not being a big issue anymore (similar to sandbox games).

As for the story: The reason I design detailed maps and adventures is: I get to play them myself, and I like to build maps, so that's my personal motivation. I wanna see how my ideas play out. But for the story, I don't really get anything out of it, except for having a complete product. I have the story roughly in my head and I would be ok with that. "Bringing it to paper" (writing it out) takes a lot of planning (that I don't like all that much) and writing in a foreign language, which again is tedious.
However, I could make the following offering: If somebody (one or multiple people) were to write stories for the colonies, I'll finish writing the story for the parent city. This way, I also have something to look forward to reading and everybody else gets a finished product. A win-win situation (and some social interaction, which is always a plus for me).
Ignitrum I am in. So if you want to contact me just message me on Discord: Ignitrum#0176.
ScaccoMattoTm Hi, I'm not leaving you my score but only my comment: I don't like your maps. I prefer to have a great story, great gameplay, unpredictable events, difficult and intelligent trading, angry at their monsters and fierce enemies who want to tear me apart.

The map should never be the difficulty in any game. The difficulties and challenges should be other.

And it is better for you that I limit myself to the comment, if I had voted it would have been almost all 1 ....

Greetings from Italy.

For those hoping for a complete story I can say that I've been working on it and it will be done eventually (Episode 4 and first half of Episode 5 now have a story). I'd like to finish the whole story first though before updating it. The colonies will come separately, probably.

There might also be small optimisations of some maps that I thought would make the scenario more enjoyable.

Additional Comments: this adventure is perfect. One thing that awkward is how can u not build poseidon sanctuary on poseidon's sacred land. Else, it's perfect.

I do like Poseidon a lot from a storywriting point of view, but in a game where you can only build 6 sanctuaries he's just outcompeted. :D If there were no limit, I would have added his temple.

On a side note, the main story is now finished.
Halbeliebe Okay I really enjoyed this... right up to the mission where I had to build a sanctuary to Zeus. As far as I can tell there is basically one place on the map where I could theoretically build it... and that place is flodded every year. Also I can built masonry shops but the workers cant reach the marble, no amount of bridge building changed that.
All in all, either I am missing something or the mission is not to be won...
