UPDATE! The previous version contained one instance where I used a hex-editor to alter the adventure so as to conceal an important element. This seems however to have caused a rare error for Geronimo so I've decided to take it out. Other changes include a somewhat unpleasant surprise as well as finishing touches to several maps, the story, the guide and the event lists. Additional but modest changes followed in a second update. /UPDATE!
The Athenians have doomed themselves.. Torrents of lava descend upon the city like avalanches while tsunamis obliterate the fleet. Some citizens seek refuge on the heights of the Acropolis, where, for a brief moment, they see Hades smirking at them..
You've guessed it: rebuilding the city will be your job. It's going to be difficult, it will take more than one lifetime, and once you've started founding colonies, different storylines will start to unfold. Which means that if you should be mad enough to try again with different colonies, it will hardly be any less challenging.
That was the point though, of many many hours of constructing and testing this adventure: building a challenging adventure with high replay value. It's been fun, but I've reached a point where I can't spot any obvious room for improvement. Though by posting it here, that will probably change quickly. Well, bring it on!
I would like to thank Senseisan, Mazeppa, JRFisher and Zapo who tested this adventure and provided tons of suggestions for improvement. Thanks as well to the HeavenGames forum and its contributors. The information stored there contributed a lot to the adventure. And finally thanks to Pecunia for providing the highly useful program ZeusMapper.
This adventure is meant for Zeus: Master of Olympus, but requires the expansion Poseidon: Master of Atlantis to be installed as well. It also requires Poseidon's patch, which can be found on this forum.
Unzip the file Everybody loves oranges.zip in your installation folder/adventures. You can find the adventure under custom adventures for Poseidon (though it is an adventure for Zeus).
This adventure can and should be completed without using cheats or the 'cliff climbers' technique. Using such shortcuts will spoil most of this adventure's challenges and may cause a crash to desktop.
The folder in the .zip file includes an adventure guide, which serves as a failsafe for this adventure: it provides tips on how to proceed in case you get stuck somewhere. As it can be rather spoilery too I recommend: do not read more than you have to. Please do check it before posting questions here though, so as to limit spoilers in the comments as much as possible! |

Hey pal, I took your advice at the end of the scenario to give it another go, and I just have to say for others to see- absolutely do that.
You see, I didn't do A********* (edited just now saw you put it this way, don't want to spoil!) my first time through. So I went there at the first opportunity on my second playthrough, with 40k banked from the parent city, and wow I had a great time. I lost and just had to restart no less than five separate times.
I wouldn't be able to share my feelings on specifics in that scenario without spoiling it for whomever is reading this, just do it.
That being said, the entire scenario is pure gold. I enjoyed every single mission of the 10, sincerely.
Thanks so much for sharing! [Edited on 02/12/22 @ 11:32 AM]

Playability: 5
OK, this is a classic everyone thinking they mastered the game should play. I tried it on titan and, I must admit, I used the cheat to get more money (Delian Treasury). However, I only used it in episodes where I could have come prepared with more money (I didn't feel like waiting in previous episodes when everything was calm and years simply had to go by to amass money).
I replayed episodes in two occassions: 1) in one of the colonies (the hardest one), where you really need to figure out the exact order of doing things. 2) in the last episode I rushed trying to conquer enemies, the others came at me with a vengeance and I had no army at home or money to bribe them (for some reason, the Delian Treasury cheat didn't work after some time). The second time I took my time and no cheats were necessary.
Balance: 5
Well, it was intended to be hard, but other than that everything worked smoothly.
Creativity: 5
Nice work, especially with the map.
Map Design: 5
The map really makes you think about how to do some things and reach certain areas. If you didn't know, people can move over sand only if there's a road on it. I believe this is not a big spoiler, but it took so much of my time to figure it out, I actually looked at the adventure walkthrough available among the documents.
Story/Instructions: 5
Reading the underlying story I would never think this scenario is so challenging! :D but still the story was nice, and there were enough instructions within it (also, there's the walkthrough available for those who don't mind spoilers).

Playability: 5
I've playing Zeus, Master of Olympus since 2003, and city building genre is one of my favourite of genres since then. I don't remember how many times i've completed the original adventures and custom ones downloaded from here. Moreover, i've just created my account to rate this masterpiece.
This adventure is "by far" the best of them.
Balance: 5
This adventure sets it's balance between "nerve cracking" and "hard" perfectly. Every episode i've scratched my head a few times like "well, there is a way i suppose". You just can't set your city and let it go automate, you must adapt to every situation, relocate buildings, replan your industry-husbandry sides.
This adventure is clearly not for beginners. It really tests the skill of the player.
Creativity: 5
This adventure has a level of creativity beyond all others, immense map design, puzzle like road/bridge building, disasters causing production priority changes, (I specially loved the "Bellerophon Turtle" episode.)
Map Design: 5
Every rock, every tree, every disaster has a purpose in this one, the author just didn't just "create a huge map and spray some stuff in". Every square is thought and tested bit by bit. A marvelous map.
Story/Instructions: 5
I don't dig in the story too much in custom adventures, but the instructions i loved them. The author even put a adventure guide in which is very nice of him.
Additional Comments:
There sould be a reserved space (like a hall of fame) which should have privilege of having the only "6 star" rating, and Everybody Loves Oranges is the only candidate.

Just changed my review from way back.
No idea why I even rated playability a 4 back then. I was retarded.
And I think the bronze issue I had before was a similar issue I encountered in "Love Hurts" by Maggie way back (I think...), so even if it was valid, it would've still been redundant to give playability a 4, which was weird coming from me.
Anyway, really nice adventure. Very enjoyable.
I even admired and envied your map work, which was stunning.[Edited on 05/18/22 @ 10:58 PM]

Hi Mazeppa, thank you for increasing the rating of your review and your words of praise. I think you've made many valid remarks in your review and you've been very supportive of my adventure in general. So I would like to respectfully disagree with the comment you've made about yourself. With regards, Genis |

Great adventure and thank you so much for making it. It really forces me to think outside of box and manage resources carefully.
I am kind of stuck on chapter 3. If Sparta is the only source of fleece, do I I have to keep bribing and begging them to grant me some fleeces. And from your adventure guide, I am under the impression that meadow is accessible after the flood. But I have trouble to build a bridge network that allows me to reach the meadow
Thanks again for this great adventure |
